One can’t help but connect many violent attacks, crimes, murders, or tragedies in the world to religious groups or severe religious fanatics. Although, everyone worshipping a religion that is linked to a disaster is responsible. It is normally just people who are using their religion to justify the horrible acts they are committing that involve the lives of the innocent being taken outright.
Recently, there was a giant story about how a bomb, a large explosion, had gone off in the middle of an Ariana Grande concert that caused the deaths of over twenty-two children under the age of eighteen. This act was caused by religious extremists who used the religion of Islam in vain in order to act out these horrors. People call them ISIS. This act does not mean that all people following the Islamic faith are responsible for these deaths or ones caused in other similar events, but it means that the killers who did this are to blame and used their religion to protect their conscience.
Other religious groups have cause numerous attacks and murders in the world as well. One of the largest in the past has been the religion of Christianity. Many of this religion’s followers created a group called the Klu Klux Klan (KKK) that was responsible for the deaths of many African American people being lynched and tortured. Just because the people responsible for these deaths were Christians, does not mean that every Christian in the world believes what they believed and are responsible for the crimes that the KKK has committed.
Religion has just become too powerful. People believe too extremely of religion’s words and they mix up their holy book’s meanings into something horrible that allows them to kill innocent people in the name of their “god”. Believing in a religion is not a crime. Believe in whatever you like; Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism – all religions are fine.
The people who take religion too seriously to the point that they misconstrue what their religion is trying to say into something awful are the problem. So much violence you see on the news has to do with religion’s impact on those who are too fragile-minded. Those who commit genocides on children in schools in the name of their religion, those who believe that shooting unarmed people of color or people in the LGBT community, those who believe bombing a city or a town in the name of their religion are all to blame.
Most of the violence in the world is caused by religious extremists and people who believe their religion is most superior and others who believe differently should be subjected to death or torture. It is time for people such as this to realize that religion is just a belief and should not be used as a cover for murderous acts.
