Relationships: In The Beginning VS. Now
DailyMail

Ah, who doesn’t love the romance of a new relationship? I mean, honestly, what can be better than love being in the air? Being in a long-term relationship, that’s what! But my oh my, do things change from the start of a relationship versus when you’ve been together for while. Things change over time, that’s obvious, but how much different is a relationship then versus now? Let’s find out!

1. Date Nights

Then: Remember how much effort you used to put into planning the perfect day?

Now: Netflix and chill.

2. Sleepovers

Then: The whole night was spent cuddling with one another and waking up wrapped in each other’s arms was the perfect way to start the day.

Now: Most likely, one of you sleeps on the couch, while the other basks in the gloriousness of having the entire bed and blankets to themselves.

3. Showing Affection

Then: Hand holding, hugging, and simple, sweet kisses were an everyday occurrence.

Now: You’re lucky if your significant other will let you know if you havesomething in your teeth...

4. Texting

Then: *Only replies when a text is received.*

Now: *Texts 18 times in a row (or however long it takes) until your bf/gf finally gives you the attention that you deserve.*

5. Trips to the Bathroom

Then: You gotta get in and get out of there.

Now: This might take a while...

6. Holidays

Then: You probably dedicated a least one paycheck’s worth of money for you S.O.’s gift.

Now: Your presence is gift enough!

7. Arguing

Then: “You’re kind of getting on my nerves, but omg, I’m so sorry, baby! I love you.”

Now: “I still hate you, and you’re still annoying me.

8. Choosing an Outfit

Then: Back in the day, you’d probably spend an hour picking out the perfect outfit, making sure every hair is in place, and winging your eyeliner so that it’s sharper than the tip of a pencil. Am I right?

Now: *Rolls up in sweatpants pulled out of the laundry hamper and an XL t-shirt that was probably stolen from him.*

9. Anniversaries

Then: Your significant other is so great that they deserve to be bestowed with gifts for every milestone month-iversay that passes.

Now: Dinner and movie is all that’s necessary.

10. Eating Out

Then: Remember when you were super conscious about the food you were eating, so you ordered a salad?

Now: Lol, give me the cheese fries.

11. Giving/ Receiving Compliments

Then: “Oh, aren’t you just as cute as a button!!!”

Now: “You’re only somewhat annoying.”

Relationships evolve over time. The infatuation stage is fun and exciting, but that soon ends. Things can change in the blink of eye, and it’s not necessarily a bad thing!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
