When Jesus died on the cross for us, He made us clean. He took all of our burdens, all of our shame, all of our guilt, and wiped it away. You have been forgiven and you are not tainted.
In the church, sex is such a taboo topic that it rarely ever gets talked about. People would rather push it under the rug and pretend they're not doing it rather than educating themselves and others. Sex isn't something to mess around with, it is a sacred thing created by God as a gift to us. But what if I've had sex? Can I still have a relationship with Jesus?
The answer is and always will be YES. Jesus already forgave our sins. Past, present, and future ones. In Romans 8:38-9, it explains that nothing, and I mean NOTHING, in all of creation, will prevent us from receiving God's relentless love. It is because of Jesus that we are able to have a relationship with Him; since He wiped our sins clean, having sex before marriage does not hinder that relationship.
But with that being said, it does not give a person who wants to pursue Jesus a "get out of jail free" card when it comes to sex. Yes, you can have sex as much as you want because we have our own free will given to us by Jesus, but the question shouldn't be "can I?" but, "should I?"
We as humans, as a part of the fall, sin. We sin every single day. And to God, all sin is created equal. For example, if I were to steal something from the store, and I were to lie about something minor, both would be equal to Jesus even though stealing is a bigger deal in society.
Sex is just the same. I am a virgin, but some of my closest friends are not. However, that does not make me any better than them, nor does it make my relationship with Christ any more authentic. If they were to pursue a relationship with Christ just as I, they would have no problem and would be able to connect with Jesus just as well as I do.
Often times the saying, "true love waits," is thrown around, but by saying that, it diminishes others who have had sex and that is not what Jesus wants. If a person is truly pursuing Jesus and has had sex before but is working to stay pure until after marriage, they are still pure. Our purity is based on our Savior alone, not on ourselves.
