This summer, I watched the entire "Grey's Anatomy" series for the first time (thanks Netflix). Regardless, of all the surgical drama and ER suspense, I realized my real attachment was to the characters and their romances. "Grey's" has created some insurmountable relationship standards since 2005 (thanks Shonda Rhimes), and I would like to share some quotes to illustrate how.
1. Denny Duquette Season 2 Episode 27
“You're who I want to wake up with and go to bed with and do everything in between with.”
The passion of Denny and Izzie’s romance was admirable. They both desperately wanted to be together. She even jeopardized her career to be with him.
2. Preston Burke Season 3 Episode 25
“I promise you this: I promise you to lay my heart in the palm of your hands, I promise you me.”
Burke unveils his wedding vows in the operating room. He never makes it to the alter with Cristina; nonetheless, they are so touching his vows would make any girl’s heart melt. But, then again, he is a heart surgeon.

3. George O’Malley Season 4 Episode 13
"You know, whenever anyone says something really funny and I laugh I always look around to see if you think it's funny too. Even when you are not there, I look around."
Ahh Sweet George! He said these words to Izzie. I think this quote is so transparent in the fact that when we love someone we so desperately want to know his or her thoughts and emotions.
4. Meredith Grey Season 4 Episode 16
“I believe that we can be extraordinary together rather than ordinary apart.”
The super adorable moment Meredith lights all the candles in the blueprint of the house Derek wants to build. I mean c'mon, how is anyone gonna say no to that?
5. Mark Sloan Season 5 Episode 17
“You think you broke me little Grey? You're the one that put me back together.”
We are all pretty messed up. We have some baggage and every relationship has issues. We just want that person who makes us feel whole.
6. Alex Karev Season 5 Episode 22
“Today's the day my life begins.”
The sincerity of Alex’s wedding vows to Izzie Stevens (is it just me or did she get a ton of good men?) will get you teary-eyed. He expresses how the marriage will change him from a selfish boy to a caring and loving husband.
7. Teddy Altman Season 7 Episode 22
“You're my husband, and I think I'm falling in love with you.”
Teddy marries Henry for the insurance benefits unknowingly that she would later fall in love with him. (they are one of my favorite romances in the television series).
8. Cristina Yang Season 9 Episode 5
Owen: “Do you like being the big spoon or the little spoon?”
Christina: “I am not a spoon, I’m a knife, and I’m gonna stab you in the eyeball.”
Cristina has to be my all time favorite character. Pretty envious of her blunt honesty and romances. I mean who doesn't want someone who loves you even after you threaten to stab them?
9. Owen Hunt Season 10 Episode 16
“I don't have to say a word. She just looks at me and sees who I am and how I feel and accepts it. She doesn't try to change it or wants to change it. That person. There's a billion people but I imagine there's only one of her.”
I don't think I have to say a word either, I'll just let Owen Hunt's handsome self do all the talking here.
10. Richard Webber Season 11 Episode 19
"Oh, and you'll hurt me, and I'll come right back to you again when you do. I'll accept the risk because you are worth it, because you matter to me. Because I love you. And I'm not going anywhere."
Richard Webber says these words to Catherine Avery. I just love how he doesn't give up on having someone to love, regardless of former loves, careers or age.
11. Miranda Bailey Season 12 Episode 24
“I trust you.”
These words were all it took for Ben Warren to know Miranda believed in his ability and trusted his judgement. This isn't one of the more romantic quotes, but still powerful especially in the circumstances of being in disagreement for a period of time.
12. Meredith Grey Season 2 Episode 5
"I love you. In a really, big really big pretend to like your taste in music, let you eat the last piece of cheesecake, hold a radio over my head outside your bedroom window, unfortunate way that makes me hate you... love you. So pick me. Choose me. Love me."
I believe this to be the most iconic quote in the Meredith and Derek romance. She pretty much sums up the kinda love we are all searching for in life. I just wish I had a McDreamy to choose me.
These are only a few of the hundreds of quotes from the hit television program. The writers of "Grey's" have really out done themselves with the characters. However, every day love doesn't have a script. Real love is defined in 1 Corinthians 13. So when you are searching for your McDreamy don't compare him to a Grey's Anatomy character, but find real love-
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
