"Laguna Beach" and "The Hills" was all about the drama. Being that we are all only human, we have drama in our lives too. Don't get me wrong, they probably have ten times more than us, but we can definitely relate to the problems they have sometimes, just not in things like when daddy won't buy us the new BMW we want.
