People fear rejection and that can sometimes cause them to not put themselves out there; or it may cause them to become very shy. However, there is no way to avoid the feeling of rejection because it is all part of the human process. Rejection happens every day. Love and friendship both come with rejection. Further, two of the most obvious slaps in the face are cliques and applying to jobs because in both situations you are not who people want.
Love can end in tragedy sometimes. You may love a person, but said person may not have any feelings for you which leads to unrequited love. However, so what? The person who you were madly in love with did not reciprocate the same feelings, it is not the end of the world. There are other fish in the sea who might be waiting for you. Also, there might be someone out there who loves you madly, but you will probably reject them. If a person rejects the love you have for them, it is not the end of the world.
Friendship can most often times end in rejection and that is okay. When you start elementary school you most likely met your best friend forever. You spend most of your time with them; however when you get to high school, that friendship can fall apart in a blink of an eye. You, or maybe the friend, wonders what happened that you guys do not pay attention to each other anymore. Friendships end all the time and it is only natural. People grow apart because you grow up and find new interests and you meet new people.
The type of rejection that really hurts people is being excluded from a clique. There are many types of cliques out there and they all reject people. For example, the popular people clique are known for only letting certain people in their posse. Another example of rejecting people from groups is the book series "The Clique". The book is about a group of rich people who exclude a girl from the group do to the fact that she is not as rich as the other girls.
Lastly, applying to jobs comes with some rejection. Sometimes you might not have that much experience in a field and the employer might not hire you. That is okay, you now know you need more experience for that certain job. Another reason you might not get a job is because you are not the right person for the fit. That happens. Also rejection from a job can really be a great experience because the next time you do an interview, you will know what to do and what not to do.
No matter how much rejection you face in life, take it in stride because there is no reason to be in a sour mood. There is no way to hide from rejection because it will always be there and you just have to take it with grace.
