Thank You Odyssey

It's been a great ride.

Thank You Odyssey

After nearly two years, I have decided to leave the Odyssey. My experience here has been nothing but positive. Even with all of the internal changes locally and nationally, everyone has been super helpful and positive. I have learned so much from these people and reading their content is fascinating and inspiring. The Odyssey gave me everything I ever needed. Writing was my untapped passion ever since I was in high school. So much is happening around us. School, politics, sports, and of course, a lot of drama, drama I have to save for later. All provided a source of content for my articles. Writing about whatever came to mind on a good platform helped me mentally.

I didn't realize for a while that I had a lot to share. Many articles contain some of my most deepest and potentially darkest thoughts and ideas. While others were made just for deadlines. Another concept I had to understand is that creativity and inspiration did not come in an instant. There were times where I simply did not know what to write about. The Odyssey team had a bunch of topics available, but I just could not connect with them. At the same time, simply free writing whatever is on your mind is pretty much another topic in itself. Of course, I did not want to rely on that in every instance I can't write. A random idea here and there helped me meet the deadline. However, when I really have a deep idea or thought, my content becomes far more in-depth. Something I am proud of.

Now, why exactly am I leaving? My writing is not stopping. I need a break. A lot has happened over the past couple of months, and I just need some time to let everything sink in. There will be a lot more ideas and thoughts to write about. There are other platforms I can share my writing on like LinkedIn. My entire college life is dedicated on developing my professional career. Now that I am in my final year, I never really got the chance to actually enjoy life. Everyone says to make this last year count, and that's what I fully intend to do. I think this is what's best for my writing.

With that, I would like to say thank you to the Odyssey. You all are amazing people who do great work in helping others voice their thoughts and ideas. These last two years have been truly special and for that, I am forever grateful. I wish you all great success in the future. I wish the current and future creators the best in their work. Writing is something that will always be a part of me, and I thank Odyssey for helping me make that part shine. This has been a great journey of learning, creating, writing, reading, and much much more. My experience as a creator in the Odyssey will never be forgotten.

Thank you.

Warm regards,

Matt Rosal

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
