Society these days are wanting to help the environment, and there are ways we can help even if it is in the smallest way. There is always something we can do to help make our planet better since this is our only home.

Action 1: Reduce riding in cars

Nabeel Syed

People rely on cars to get everywhere, but a few years ago, many people starting driving less, and taking public transportation, and even riding bikes and walking to work and school. Also, this is a great way to reduce the amount of dangerous greenhouse gases (which are responsible for a large chunk of climate change) we release into the environment.

Action 2: Reduce food waste

People talk about how much Americans eat, But we don't hear a lot about all the food that we waste on a daily bases. in the United States, we throw out about 40 percent of our food every year. the amount of global food waste produced each year is more than enough to feed the nearly 1 billion hungry people in the world. We need to be more mindful of how much food we make, and if we have leftovers we need to eat them or take them to a homeless shelter, so we are not wasting.

Action 3: Use more Sustainable containers.

More and more stores are selling reusable bags for your groceries, and you can even buy reusable cups at Starbucks, Using these will help cut down on waste and none recyclable packaging. the average American office worker uses about 500 disposable cups per year. To make a difference start carrying your reusable cup to work, school just out and about. Stop using plastic straws from restaurants and coffee shops. You can buy metal and silicone straw for a cheap price on Amazon, and you take these anywhere and use them instead of the plastic ones you get.

Action 4: Shop with the environment in mind.

When shopping and not just at grocery stores, but even if you go to the mall, take your own bags and just tell the clerk that you have your own bag you would like to use. Some people even try to find eco-friendly cleaning supplies, including sponges and reusable towels instead of paper towels.

Action 5: Water usage

Benjamin Lambert

Pay close attention to how much water you use, the little things can make a difference, just by turning off the water when you are brushing your teeth. Got a leaky toilet? You might be wasting 200 gallons (757 liters) of water a day [source: EPA]. Try limiting how many bottles of water you use, instead use a metal or reusable water bottle and put one in the freezer the night before so it thaws slowly for when your out.

Action 6: Reduce your waste

Markus Spiske

Recycling is away a we can reduce our waste, and up cycling is a great way to reuse some of our old stuff that we don't think we can use anymore. Like using old glass jars for candle holders or plant holders. And try to compost any organic foods you can.

There are many other ways we can reduce and reuse what we buy and use. Buying things that are recyclable and up-cycle can really reduce our carbon footprint on the world.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
