This woman is beautiful.
If you are questioning what is beautiful about this woman, then you are suffering from the beauty crisis.
For decades, society has altered the definition of beauty. From the age of Marilyn Monroe to the takeover of Barbie dolls, women are constantly reminded that beauty is a key component to being successful and approachable. A flawless complexion, straight hair, a thin and toned figure accompanied with sizable breasts all define beauty in our society. However, not every woman matches this idea of perfection. So does that mean any woman lacking those characteristics is ugly?
Unfortunately, some would say so. Those people are a part of the beauty crisis.
If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then why do we have this universal definition of what beauty is? Beauty cannot be defined. So although I loved playing with Barbies throughout my childhood, she is not the only image of beauty. One of the most marvelous things in the world is that every human has a different perspective. We all see things differently.
This is why beauty cannot be defined. No two people are exactly alike in this world, not even twins. Our DNA compositions differ from every other individual on the planet, and that is beautiful. Our diversity in behaviors, cultures, and looks is beautiful. The melting pot society in which we live is flawlessly beautiful.
This woman is beautiful.
Her smile, her bravery, and her soul define her beauty. She is just as beautiful as every other woman on the planet. Watch as she smiles when strangers commend her for her immense bravery.
Society should begin to recognize that beauty is not one thing, but it is many things. Continuing to press the belief that beauty is only tangible for certain people has caused horrendous issues with self-esteem and individual morale. No individual should ever walk through life questioning whether or not they are beautiful.
We are all beautiful.
