Recent News To Make You Smile

With all of the harsh tension going on throughout the media, I figured it was that time again to pause and reflect on some positive moments. Since we have all been busy focusing on the pessimistic media and news, here are a few current events to finally put a smile on your face.

1. 40 Plus Students Get Their Lunch Balances Paid For

H.W. Good Elementary School in Pennsylvania witnessed an incredible act of kindness when an unknown man entered the school and gave money to pay for outstanding lunch balances. He presented a check for $864 but that was not all. This generous man also proposed to pay for one child’s lunch for the duration of the academic year. His main priority was to help release any financial weight to the families of these students. Just think of how grateful and relieved these families must have been all because of one man.

2. 683 Tons of Food Raised For Philadelphia Food Bank

The “Preston & Steve” radio show hosted an event in which they raised more than 683 tons of food along with a whopping $75,000. This will help create approximately 37,000 meals!

3. Dolly Parton’s Generous Donation

In the wake of the devastating Tennessee Fires, famous country star Dolly Parton will be donating $1,000 a month to the victims whose homes have been demolished.

4. Kids Helping The Homeless

Children in Canada provided jackets, mittens, scarves to the homeless in order to help keep them warm in the frigid winter weather. The clothes were attached to street poles with notes stating to ‘take these so you keep warm!”

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
