A Recap Of The 58th Annual Grammy Awards
Flavor Wire

The 58th Annual Grammy Awards took place last week on Feb. 15th and boy was it a show to remember. From tributes, to live music video making, to throwing shade during an acceptance speech, there was a lot to take in during the three and a half hour award show. There were some great moments, and there were also some low ones. Let's take a recap of the very high points of this year's Grammy Awards.

During the show, a tribute performance dedicated to Lionel Richie was performed by singers Demi Lovato, John Legend, Meghan Trainor and Luke Bryan. They had Richie dancing and crying in his seat, and then he joined them on stage. Demi Lovato hit those beautiful high notes of hers during her rendition of "Hello" which was my favorite part of the entire performance.

Lady Gaga did a beautiful and touching performance in memory of David Bowie. From stage set up, to makeup and costume, she captured the audience in honor of the late singer who passed away in January 2016.

Another artist who stole the stage was Kendrick Lamar who performed new songs off his album To Pimp A Butterfly and poured out his emotions on stage about the issues of racial equality. He touched the audience with his heartfelt, strong lyrics and incredible stage set up. Lamar was nominated for 11 awards, and took home many that night including Best Rap Song, best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance.

Then, there is Taylor Swift. One either really loves her, or on the other end of the spectrum, is not her biggest fan (me). Swift got into every performance and award given showing more excitement than a child shows at a toy store. She also threw a little shade at artist Kayne West which EVERYONE was waiting for. In her acceptance speech Swift said,

And as the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to the young woman out there, there are going to be people along the way who try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you will look around and you will know it was you and the people who love you who put you there, and that will be the greatest feeling in the world.

This comes as a response to Kanye claiming in his new song that he himself is the reason why T-Swift is famous. Yes, she could've thanked her fans a little bit more rather than bashing on Kanye, but it is what it is, and for the most part, it was pretty great. Taylor Swift also took home Album of the Year for 1989, Best Music Video for Bad Blood and Best Pop Vocal album for 1989.

A technical malfunction could not stop the powerful and strong voiced Adele. During her performance of All I Ask had a few sound issues but Adele was able to push right through it. She hit twitter.com that night to let her fans know was the issue was, and informed everyone about how she was fighting away the tears with an In and Out Burger. Honestly, anything could have happened and I would still listen to Adele sing, her voice is beautiful.

Many other stars took home their first Grammy award that night including Justin Bieber for Where Are You Now and Meghan Trainor for best new artist. Song of the year went to Thinking Out Loud by the one and only Ed Sheeran and taking home record of the year was Bruno Mars for Uptown Funk.

Now, we wait until 2017 for all the celebrities to walk the red carpet and take the stage for the Grammys once more. Who knows what singers will have tensions between them, if Kayne and Taylor will ever settle their beef, and what celebrities will be the best of friends.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
