Jerseys have become the new norm for bar and party apparel lately for college aged students, men and women alike. There's a good chance that at least one of the parties you go to during the course of the weekend is a theme where you can wear some kind of jersey. But if it's not, you'll probably see a large percentage of guests rocking a jersey anyway. This fad seems to have swept over college towns like a plague lately, but is it a good thing? Should we really be encouraging each other to parade around the bar scene with our friends looking like a basketball team? These are some reasons you should NOT wear a jersey to the bar:
1. It's way too comfortable.
Everyone knows you're supposed to wear your most uncomfortable clothing when you go out. Nothing says you're having a good time more than not being able to breathe in your dress or being strangled by your button-up.
2. People might think you're a pro athlete.
People might actually think you're the athlete of the jersey you're wearing. This makes things awkward when they find out you're just another average Joe or Jane. Also, you might have a hard time walking through a party when all these jersey chasers are crawling all over you.
3. You're a girl.
Everyone knows women should wear their most revealing, uncomfortable, dressy clothes to a bar or party. If they wore a jersey, they might be comfortable enough to have a conversation or a good time. Also, she might actually know something about sports, which would make her all-around too chill to handle.
4. People might try to have a conversation with you about your jersey.
Someone might also like the person who's jersey you're wearing and want to talk to you about it. Instead of forced small talk or conversations about shots, you would have to participate in a conversation about something you actually enjoy. Ugh.
5. It's too easy to pick out of your closet.
Deciding you're going to wear a jersey and put it on takes less than a minute. This is simply not enough time in the grand scheme of getting ready. What are you going to do in all the time you don't spend sorting through your hangers and drawers trying on countless different shirts deciding which one is right?
6. You're showing off too much of your arms.
If it's a sleeveless jersey, you're showing the world way too much skin. You can't just reveal to the world how swell you've gotten at the bar. No one will be able to handle it.
7. You would look way too chill.
You're supposed to look as high-maintenance as possible when you go out for the night. Wearing a jersey makes you look too approachable, you might actually meet someone nice.
8. You could spill on it.
This would actually be a tragedy.
