A few weeks ago, I found out that my college had a new club on campus. It wasn’t something I expected to find on every college campus. It was the “Love Your Melon College Crew” that was all over my social media, promoting the products and the story behind it. I researched it, and invested in a new beanie from the website. I had always wanted a well-made hat, but never could find a nice one. I picked out a beanie, and can proudly say it was one of the best purchases I ever made. Here’s why:

Founded by two students at the University of St. Thomas, “Love Your Melon” is a nonprofit organization that sells merchandise such as beanies, caps, apparel, and other accessories. The two students who created this, Zach and Brian, started this program in their sophomore year entrepreneurship class and were determined to put a hat on every child battling cancer.

The merchandise is the absolute cutest

The Proceeds

The purpose of this is to raise awareness for children who have lost their hair to cancer, and to promote the brand to help those children in need. The students also participate in events for cancer patients and help them achieve a dream they have. It is inspiring to know that college students are making time to do service projects during the stressful school year and who are trying to make a difference.
