I have always been a dessert person. Chocolate is my weakness. Out of all desserts though, cookies have always been my favorite, chocolate chip to be exact. Nothing beats biting into a fresh, warm chocolate chip cookie. It's like heaven in my mouth every single time. Whenever I come home to visit my family, I kid you not, within five minutes I always hear "are you going to make cookies"? It's become somewhat of a tradition for us. Not only has my family grown accustomed to my cookie ways, but those who have come over even just once have most likely experienced it as well. It this unhealthy? Nope, and here's why:

1. They are good for the soul

Studies show that those who consume at least one cookie a week, live a happier, fuller and more satisfying life. (As a girl who has practically made cookies since being in the womb, I'd say I'm a pretty reliable source).

2. They help you make friends

What dessert is easier to share than cookies? Not only that but it is very rare you'll find someone who can honestly say they don't like cookies (if they don't, you're probably better off without them anyways). Starting a new job and nervous about getting along with your co-workers? Bring and share some cookies! Insta-friends, guaranteed.

3. There are so many different kinds to choose from

Don't like chocolate chip? No worries! I have a cookie recipe book that is 200 plus pages. I guarantee there will always be a cookie you've never tried, and that honestly makes me restless at night.

4. They can be good for you

No matter what kind of cookie is your favorite, I promise there is a healthy recipe out there that is just as delicious. My favorite homemade cookies have had a few alterations over the years in order to correlate with my slowing down metabolism, as I'm sure many of you can relate to. With a few alterations of substituting bananas for butter, whole wheat flour for white, sucanut sugar for white sugar, and wha-la: HEALTHY-ish!

5. Easy portion control

You decide how big you make your cookies. Instead of making huge cookies, make them smaller so you can eat more of them and it equal out to one or two big ones. Same amount of calories, but somehow more satisfying. If they're store bought and you have no control over the size, it's still simple to know just how many you are eating along with the calorie intake. Much easier to judge than it is for a dessert such as ice cream. Let's be real, who actually measures out a half cup of ice cream?

6. Quick to make

Whether you're making them from scratch or buying dough at the store, it is very rare that they will take longer than 10 minutes to bake. How convenient! No more waiting 30 minutes for brownies, you can have three batches of cookies in that time!

7. Your chances of finding a significant other will dramatically increase

Next tinder profile description: "loves to bake cookies". I'm tellin' ya, no one wants to turn down someone who makes them cookies on the reg. Don't believe me? I'll give you a list of references.

8. Who doesn't love an extra cushion for the pushin'?

If I'm going to have a little extra squish on me, I can't think of a better reason to have it than cookies.

9. Cookies have all your necessary ingredients to survive

Need your grains? Got it. Dairy? Yep, they have it. Protein? Of course. Fruits? Throw some raisins in there. Nuts? Yes, please. Cookies are limitless and can have whatever your body could possibly want or need. All you have to do it be a little creative.

10. They're just so good!

You deserve a treat. Depriving yourself from the delicacy of a scrumptious cookie is just plain wrong.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
