If I see one more article about Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton I'm going to lose it. There are other candidates. The media is biased and doesn't give other candidates the recognition they deserve, so I decided to do it instead. Here are some reasons you should consider voting (and by consider I mean definitely do it) Bernie Sanders in the upcoming primaries/future election.
By the way, I did not get my facts from BernieSanders.com (but feel free to donate or check it out), because I am not trying to be biased. The following information is from PBS.org. There are certain issues I personally do not know enough about to talk about, so feel free to check out the full article .
Bernie Sanders has always been a fighter for justice. In 1963, he marched in Washington. He was there to listen to Martin Luther King Jr. speak, making him far ahead of his time. And look, what a stud!
I'm not gonna lie, I love the days during winter where for some reason it is 65-70 degrees. But, as we all know, those lovely days are a side effect of a huge global crisis, climate change. Some politicians argue it's a myth, but that is just not true.
Here are just some (not all) of the effects of climate change:
- temperatures will rise steadily and quickly
- changes in precipitation patterns
- more drought and heatwaves
- hurricanes becoming stronger and more intense
- sea level will rise
- arctic is melting (the polar bears!!!)
Bernie Sanders' stance on climate change: he wants to pass a bill that will charge companies with ridiculous amounts of carbon emissions hopefully weakening the rapid growth in climate change.
No one ever likes hearing the words "raise taxes". Thankfully, Sanders has a compromise. He wants to raise taxes, but on those who make over $250,000 annually in their income. Of course, everyone would see an increase in taxes, but he's focused on primarily taxing those who can afford it.
Immigration. He wants to make it easier to obtain citizenship. Not deport all people who are different like some other candidates I know...
Bernie is also pro-choice, pro gay marriage, and other civil liberties. Here's a full list of all that he has passed/rejected/supported during his political career .
Voting is a privilege we are granted because we live in a democracy. Do not take voting on the leader of our country lightly. Educate yourself on the issues and make sure you know who you agree with the most. Take this quiz if you need. (I got 98% Bernie)
