5 Reasons Why Everyone Should Seize the Day

As time passes by, I have come realize that stepping out of my comfort zone and creating new experiences is just what I need to live a happier and fun-filled life. Here are 5 reasons why we should all seize the day.

5. To let loose.

One thing I regret most about the past several years of my life is the fact that I am one stubborn girl. I have never taken a moment to just breathe and go with the flow. In turn, I have missed out on stories and memories that I could have been a part of as well. Don't let that voice in your head tell you that whatever is holding you back is right, because it's not.

4. To spend your youth wisely and not waste it away.

Although to some it may seem like life is moving slowly and we will always be young, fun, and unstoppable, the fact is it's not true. I might not be this super wise old woman who has life-altering stories to share but I sure as hell know that time is passing us by and it's not going to stop on our account. Youth is such a beautiful thing and instead of spending time documenting everything you do, go out and try something different. It doesn't have to be something extreme but it does have to be something worth your while.

3. To make memories.

Memories are probably the best thing a person has. Can you imagine thirty years into into your future? What do you see? Who do you see? If you ask me, I see a woman nearing 50 who wants the best for her children and who has possibly lost track of who she is. She might not have time to seize the day because she's dropping off her kid's lunch at school because he forgot it. Thats okay though, she has always wanted a family of her own and she wouldn't trade them for anything, but at the same time she probably wishes she could go to Vegas or do something spontaneous like the old days. Every stage of your life will offer new ways to seize the day so don't be scared, just go with it.

2. To make mistakes.

When you decide to seize the day, the truth is, you may make a mistake. Whether you get your personal belongings stolen while you go skydiving or you get super wasted and wake up in a strange place, you will mess up. Don't be afraid though because everything you do will be used as a guideline for what not to do in the future. A wise Hilary Duff from the movie, A Cinderella Story, once stated "Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game." I, of course, would later learn that Babe Ruth said that and not her but nonetheless it's true. Just because you are afraid doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.

1. To be proud of the life you lived.

By the time I die I want to tell my grandchildren (and I only say grandchildren because I already told my children too many times) that everything I did and everything I said was because I wanted to experience life to the fullest. I want to have gone through long-lasting love, heartache, the love and happiness you feel after giving birth to a child. I want to have gone through the pain of loosing someone you care for deeply and everything else life has to offer. I truly believe that seizing the day, no matter what that means to you, is important so you don't look back on your life and regret the things you didn't do.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
