5 Reasons Why Single Mothers Are Amazing

There are over nine million single mothers in the United States, and every day these women work their ass off to provide for their children. These women are strong, beautiful and, most importantly, superheroes to their children.

Despite the negative stereotypes surrounding why single moms are single, these ladies are raising children with little to no help and that makes them truly amazing.

1. I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T. Do you know what that means?

She got her own house. She got her own car. Two jobs. And works hard. She's a bad mom!

Webbie was right: single mothers are the definition on independent and that's something to be celebrated.

2. No matter what her kids are always first.

Some single mothers don't eat if their kids don't eat first. They will sacrifice everything they have to provide for their child. That is true love. Remember: don't mess with mama bear.

3. She is strong.

I have never met a single mother who wasn't smiling. Regardless of her situation, she shows the world that she is OK, although she may not feel that way on the inside. She carries the weight of the world on her shoulders so that her children can live a good life.

4. She will never give up.

It truly makes my day to see single mothers accomplish their goals. Whether that's landing a new job, finishing school, or getting a new house. It makes me even happier knowing she did it not only for herself but for her family.

5. Men are not an requirement.

Every child deserves to grow up with two parents, and unfortunately the children with single mothers will not have this experience. However, I admire single mothers because they will not let a man get in the way of her kids. When a single mother finds love with someone that accepts her and her kids, it's truly beautiful.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
