Let's face it; we've all been there. It's 1 in the morning and you're ugly crying in your car and you think your world is ending. You got in a fight with someone you love, everything about your day was horrible, you got a speeding ticket on your way to school or work and blemished your perfect record, your car needs to go to the shop, you're on the brink of failing that one class, or whatever the excuse may be; we've all had our days where the only thing that saves us is the music we listen to. Music preferences range from person to person, but Twenty One Pilots are by far the best band to listen to.
1. They don't conform to one genre.
They have a song for any type of mood. Do you need to cry about your life? You got it, listen to "Goner" or "Truce". Do you feel like screaming lyrics at the top of your lungs with your best friend? No problem, it sounds like you need to listen to "Forest" or "Fake You Out". Need to show how good you are at rapping? Go for it- the last verse of "Anathema" is great or "Kitchen Sink" . Want to listen to a love song? Well than you'll love "Lovely" ! No matter what the occasion is, Twenty One Pilots never fail to deliver.
2. The industry can't change them.
We've seen it happen to all of the mainstream artists. They start out strong but eventually let the industry buy them; resulting in music that sounds formulated and unoriginal. However, Twenty One Pilots is different. In fact, on their most recent album, Blurryface, their song "Lane Boy" calls out the music industry and how corrupt it is.
"In the industry it seems to me that singles on the radio are currency
My creativity's only free when I'm playing shows"
And that's why they're the best. They stay true to themselves and produce genuine music which is the way it should be.
3. There's an underlying poetic vibe in every song they produce.
Regardless of the album or song, when you actually listen to their art, you can understand the message of beauty, pain, sorrow, or love that is carried through from the beginning to the end. It's one of my favorite things about them. Their music has real-life emotions embedded in its roots, not drugs, alcohol, or sex like most mainstream artists.
4. They acknowledge their fans.
I will never forget June 19, 2016. I literally graduated high school (which I HATED) 10 days prior and was looking forward to seeing Twenty One Pilots live in Hershey, Pennsylvania. It was the start of the summer before my freshmen year of college. I was ecstatic to have gradated from high school and was thrilled and looking forward to starting a new chapter of my life. All of these good things were happening to me close together in time and I felt like I was in a state of euphoria.I got to listen to my FAVORITE band live with my best friends(we took a road trip)! As if that wasn't enough- at the end of the concert, Tyler and Josh acknowledged their fans. It was their first sold-out show they ever played at and said they never dreamed that they would be doing what they are doing now when they started the band. They superseded their expectations and gave thanks to their fans who got them there. It was surreal to say the least.
Twenty One Pilots is by far the realest and most genuine band out their. Their music has purpose, they are humble, and they can't be bought. Don't believe me? Than why don't you listen to them for yourself?
