If you haven' done live band karaoke, put in on your bucket list. Now. Here's why...
1. You don't have to be good at it.
Let's be real; not everyone who graces the mic is going to be the next big contestant on "The Voice," but it's still a good time. Every once in a while you may see someone who is absolutely amazing, but even if you don't, it's still cool to see everyone enjoy being a rock star for a few minutes.
2. Anyone can do it.
No matter your talent, no matter if you like slow songs or fast songs, no matter if it's at a bar or at your school talent show, whether you're young or old, anyone can do it, and everyone will have fun.
3. You don't have to be drunk to enjoy it.
For those of us who are 21 or older, it's one of those activities that would probably be a lot more loose, fun, and give everyone a bit of liquid courage, but it still a good time without a couple beers. I've only done it sober, and I still rocked the mic and had a good time.
4. It brings the rock star/singer out of everyone.
Sometimes the only time people get to sing is in the shower and maybe when they're riding alone in the car, so we don't always know who can or can't sing. Karaoke is the perfect place to find out who has been secretly living as Beyoncé behind closed doors.
5. If you're nervous about singing alone, you can sing with an entourage.
I think one of the best things about karaoke, is that you don't have to go at it alone. You can bring a large group of friends along and sing those songs that get the crowd dancing on their feet. You can never go wrong with having five people sing, "Living on a Prayer" by Journey.
6. It's live!
You have the band to back you up, which isn't always an option with the karaoke machine. If you make a mistake, the band will have your back. They can always play around your mistakes or if they have a backup singer, you've always got that fall back there if you need it. Just like the real artists have. But make you're nice to the band, follow their rules, and give them acknowledgement and thanks for your performance. And whatever you do, don't be like Ashlee Simpson and blame them if something goes wrong.
Now that you know why live band karaoke is just the bee's knees, go out and do it. And have fun rock stars!
