16 Reasons Why Fall is Better Than Summer
The Odyssey

Well, another summer has pretty much come and gone. Cooler temperatures are rolling in, and you are starting to feel that crisp fall air in the mornings. In my opinion, fall is a lot better than summer, especially in the South. Here's why:

1. Football

So, maybe the first few games are in the very last part of summer, but the bulk of football season is during the fall. It is not by chance that the best season occurs while the best sport is being played.

2. Pumpkins

Pumpkins really are a true staple of fall. I really do not think that fall would be the same without pumpkins. There's pumpkin crafts, pumpkin pie, and pumpkin spice lattes (shoutout to Starbucks).

3. Candy Corn

We all can agree that we have probably ate too much candy corn in our lives at one time, and why not? It is pretty great.

4. Boots

Boots are pretty much acceptable to wear any time of year, but they are for sure a safe bet in the fall. They provide warmth, and they go with pretty much everything.

5. Thanksgiving

You literally can eat a massive amount of food on this day without being judged at all. There are no other days like that in the year. Plus, you get to really see all the things you have to be thankful for. Pretty great.

6. State fairs and carnivals

Every state holds their fairs at different points in the year, however, the majority of states hold them in the fall. I know I will always associate fall with my state fair. There's just something about fair food and crisp fall air that does a heart good.

7. Halloween

This is the only day and time of year in which it is socially acceptable to go around knocking on stranger's doors asking them to give you free candy. Better always take advantage of it, no matter how old you are.

8. Bonfires

Bonfires in general really are pretty great. You get to mingle with friends, and possibly family. Plus you get to hang around a fire, and talk about anything and everything.

9. Scarves

I have a slight obsession with scarves. Scarves unfortunately are kinda hard to wear year round, and fall is the first chance I can wear them without sweating to death.

10. Decorations

Fall decorations always seem to feel a little bit more cozy. Fall colors, wreaths, blankets, you name it. You can not be around a fall related decoration without feeling warm inside.

11. Hot chocolate

Hot chocolate is just warm chocolatey goodness that everyone benefits from. It provides a nice change from coffee too!

12. Hoodies/Sweaters

Hoodies and sweaters are always there to make you feel warm, plus they are super comfy. You can't really wear them in the spring or summer, so when fall rolls around, breakout that favorite hoodie of yours, and wear it as much as possible.

13. Corn mazes

Besides the whole possibility of getting lost thing, corn mazes are actually pretty fun. It's way too hot to be wandering around in a corn maze in the middle of summer, but during the fall, the temperature is just right, which adds a nice little touch.

14. ABC Family Movie Marathon

Thankfully ABC Family shows all our favorite Halloween movies during this time of year. We all know that at least once a year, we will get to relive our childhood, even if it is for just one night.

15. Hayrides

Hayrides are so much fun, especially in the late evening. Some places even add an extra twist, and have a scary touch for grown ups.

16. Falling leaves

The sight of leaves changing and falling really is pretty great. Plus it is another reminder Christmas is right around the corner.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
