Reasons We Don't Want To Come Home From College

For some, college is the worst, and at the end of the semester you can not wait to get home. But for most college kids, you're home is at school. Obviously no one actually wants to deal with the "school" part of being in college, but we all love the fact that we are surrounded by our best friends and are free to be whoever we want. No parents and no rules. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents (they're great) but, I could definitely do without the rules.

1. I don't want to work.

Even though I am bored out of my mind, I would rather be doing anything other than working...like anything.

2. I don't want chores.

The world's worst phrase, " You need to do your part in this family."

3. All my friends are at school.

Let's be real, you are probably not friends with many of the people you were friends with in high school. That's okay. It just means that you're going to have a really boring summer alone and missing your friends from college.

4. My hometown is boring.

No matter where for are from, you have spent 18 years there and you are over it. You have sucked up anything your town has to offer, and now you are bored.

5. Rules aren't fun.

There aren't any rules at school, so you have been doing your own thing for months but now you have to remember what a curfew is. Uh oh...

6. You get bothered for taking naps.

No mom, I a not sick. I am just tired and bored.

7. You have to be productive on the days you don't work.

Apparently we are not spending our day wisely if we just lounge around the house all day. P.S your parents are lying to you. They are just jealous they can't binge watch Netflix all day.

8. Our parents judge our every move.

Mom, sometimes I just want to eat col pizza at midnight and go to Cookout at 2 a.m... There is no concept of time in college.

9. I hate having to know what I am doing in a week.

I don't like thinking about the future, whether it is tomorrow, next week, or in two years... My brain just doesn't like to plan.

10. I just want to travel and be with friends.

But this thing called parents and money get in the way...

Well, the reality is that we have to go home, and deep, deep down we are glad to be home. At least at home we don't have to take showers with flip flops on, there is free laundry, and our parents buy our groceries for us. SCORE. So no matter how may reasons you have for not wanting to g home this summer, there is no place like home.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
