I always find this time of the semester to be so conflicting. Finals bring out a lot of stress, and once you add in packing and moving and leaving all your friends, it's a difficult time for many. I've always, always struggled when it comes to leaving college for the year because I'm such a better version of myself at college and I'm surrounded by so many amazing people. Here are some things I'm trying to keep in mind as I return home:
1. Seeing my parents every day.
My relationship with my parents blossomed when I went to college, so I always look forward to going home and seeing them.
2. Homecooked meals - every day (ish).
I cook at school once or twice a week, but there's nothing like a meal made by my parents and actually getting to enjoy a meal with them.
3. Going back to work.
I'm a very routine oriented person so going back to work is a highlight for me; especially because I'll be working at a school/daycare and getting some hands-on experience towards my degree.
4. Sleeping with my dog every night.
My dog is easily number one in my life. I love going home to see him and his snuggles make the time all the worthwhile.
5. Having a break from schooling.
I love going to college and taking classes, but this has been a pressing year and I'm so ready to have a break and relax a little.
6. Visiting with family.
None of my relatives live even in the same state as my family, so summer is a big time for me to travel around and visit with loved ones I only see a couple times a year.
7. Traveling.
I've always loved to travel and I've grown to love it even more as I've gotten older. This summer, we're taking a trip to the Dominican Republic to celebrate my sister's graduation and I cannot wait to be on the beach soaking up the sun.
8. Visiting college friends.
Honestly, it sucks going from living within walking distance of all your friends to
9. Sleep!
There is nothing like sleeping in your own bed, especially after the end of the semester stress.
10. More binge watching opportunities.
Sure, there's time to binge watch your favorite Netflix show at college, but chances are, your time opens up at least a little bit more when you move home. Plus, there is the added comfort of being in your own bed with your dog.
11. Fewer expenses.
Being at college is expensive, whether you're on scholarship or your parents are paying for your education. There's paying for food, paying to go out, or paying for a movie etc. The world is not a cheap place, so being home is a nice break for the bank account - and a chance to restore your savings.
