Reasons To Thank Your Mom Every Day, Not Just On Mother's Day

Mother's Day is a day to celebrate your mom and thank her for everything that she has done for you not only this past year but your whole life. Your mom is a special person in your life that cares for you, loves you unconditionally, and does so much more for you and your family than you know.

There are many reasons to thank your mom, and I can list so many. Since Mother's Day has come and gone once again, here are a few to thank your mom for today.

1. Loving you unconditionally

If your mom is anything like my mom, she is your rock and your best friend. Nothing cheers me up more than my mother's love.

2. Being your biggest supporter

Whether it's school, sports, or just life, my mom has always been there through everything.

3. Teaching me how to respect others

As my mom would say, "Respect is earned not given." My mom has molded that into my brain since I was young. I think it is very important to respect others in any way shape or form, until it is abused.

4. Being your best friend

Some may say that your mom isn't supposed to be your friend. However, every mom and child relationship is different — my mom will forever be my best friend.

5. Saying no, even when it was hard

Saying "no" to a child is never easy, but you have to do it. I look back, and all of the things my mom said no to, was for my personal benefit and I couldn't thank her enough for saying "no" to me.

6. Being there through the ups and downs

Sometimes it feels like there was more downs than ups, but no matter what, my mom would always be there through them.

7. Inspiring me

You inspired me to do my best and do things that I never knew I could do.

8. Putting up with me

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for putting up with my crap. I know most days are good, but sometimes I get in a bad mood and say stuff I shouldn't.

9. Challenging me

I never really liked challenges, but my mom always made sure I was challenged. Whether it was in school, sports or life, she knows my true potential and pushed me to a higher level to achieve my goals.

10. Your home-cooked meals

Until college, I never really liked having a home-cooked meal. I guess it's something about the family being all together with your amazing cooking that I missed the most.

11. Always having the best advice

Whether you have been through it or not, you always know how to give the best advice you can give.

12. Teaching me manners

Manners are important, and many people forget about using there manners. Thank you for teaching me the importance of always saying "please" and "thank you."

There are many more things to thank my mom for, but here are just a few.

The strong, independent, confident, caring, intelligent woman you are has shaped me into the woman I am today. Thank you for showing me all those qualities you have. I hope to be half the mother you are when I have kids!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
