Call me crazy, but my favorite season is winter. Why? It's as far as possible as you can get from summer. I hate summer. Here are just a few reasons why.
1. It's hot
Yes, obviously summer is hot, and that's the reason most people like it-- but think for a moment; in the summer, the heat can get so bad you couldn't possibly wear anything to avoid it. This means you're sweaty, uncomfortable, and possibly sunburned. In the winter-- in most parts of the world-- you can always put on more layers till you're comfortable, and you're also not very likely to burn. Plus, when it's hot out, anything smelly starts to smell a whole lot worse (food, garbage, roadkill, people with poor hygiene...)
2. Mosquitos
They only come out during the summer, and they suck... blood. I don't really think I need to say anything more because I don't know anyone who likes mosquitos.
3. Expectations
Yay, it's summer! Time to do all the things I've wanted to do the rest of the year and have been too busy for!! Right? Nope. Anyone who has experienced summer will probably agree that it's not a magical productivity booster. Maybe you'll do some of the things you wanted to get done, but honestly, you'll probably decide it's too hot and sit on the couch watching Netflix. Odds are, if you're busy during the rest of the year, you'll still be busy in the summer.
4. Allergies
Very few people have seasonal allergies in winter, but summer brings an onslaught of plants and bugs for people with allergies to fear. It really stinks-- not literally though, because you can't smell anything with how stuffed up your nose has gotten.
5. Cost
If you want to take a vacation on a random day in winter or fall-- cheap! Summer-- hope you have an extra arm and leg to fork out! Plus there's the cost of maintaining your supply of sunscreen, allergy meds, and ice cream. You could always get a summer job... That will help a lot, since you won't have time to spend the money anymore anyway.
All that said, summer could be a lot worse, and I guess it can be pretty great sometimes. I love going barefoot, swimming in the ocean (or anywhere else for that matter), and of course, the ice cream stands on every corner.... So I guess, even though summer isn't my favorite season, I don't "hate" it.
That said, I cannot wait for winter to come back around. Hot coco and fuzzy boots, here I come.
