20 Reasons Why You Should Move to Houston Post-Grad

I'm originally from a Houston suburb, so I guess that makes this article a little biased. However, I never wanted to live in Houston until recently. I was all about the “Austin fad" or moving to Dallas because that's what everyone else does. However, I have recently become to love “my" city, and I think it's the best place for people to move after graduation.

1. If you claim to be “indie" or “artsy" or “hipster," Austin isn't the only place that has food trucks and cool wall murals. From hot dogs to crepes, Houston's got the food trucks, too.

2. The museum district is honestly pretty cool. Check out the art museums, science museum or history museum.

3. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. I'm pretty sure it's one of the biggest.

4. Memorial Park is one of the largest parks in the United States. It's the perfect place to walk, jog or have a picnic.

5. You can tour the Saint Arnold Brewing Company.

6. The Houston Rockets (or Texans, or Dynamo). Sports games are always so fun here.

7. It's surrounded by great suburbs such as, The Woodlands, Kingwood, Spring, Tomball and more. Be sure to visit Old Town Spring for some antiques.

8. It's honestly just as weird as Austin, but just as cool and classy as Dallas.

9. Free Press Summer Fest – Houston's newest music festival, every June. You get to go see big-name artists pretty much in your backyard.

10. YOU CAN FIND A JOB. The job market in Houston is huge and continuously growing. From medicine, to public relations - there is something here for you.

11. There's lots of shopping. From the Galleria to Rice Village to Highland Village, you'll never have to shop online.

12. The FOOD. There is every kind. And it's everywhere. Go to Montrose for some awesome, local eats.

13. It's beautiful. From Rice University to the Houston skyline, there's always something nice to look at.

14. There are so many concert venues – House of Blues, Warehouse Live and more. There's no doubt your favorite band is bound to play sometime.

15. Midtown. So many postgrads go out to Midtown – it's such a cool downtown, nightlife atmosphere.

16. The people are friendly. Genuinely.

17. There are many plays to see. Sometimes, Cirque du Soleil even makes an appearance on its tour.

18. While it may be the grossest beach, you're super close to Galveston if you're ever feeling a beach day!

19. It's rated pretty high in “top cities in the U.S." If I'm not mistaken, it's been number one before.

20. Just trust our word – people who live there love it and probably wouldn't want to ever live anywhere else.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
