Three Reasons You Should Be Excited for "Mafia 3"

It's honestly been a long time since I've excitedly anticipated a video game's release. "Mafia 3" has lit a fire in me that I believe may spread well until the game is released and I see more game play and reviews, but that may never even be enough until I actually get my hands on it (curse you, broke college kid life!). With that being said, I have my reasons to be excited for October 7th. I've seen as much of the game as the internet would allow before it's official release. Here are the top three reasons I'm very much looking forward to the release of "Mafia 3", and maybe why you should too.

1. The Setting.

"Mafia 3" takes place in a fictional 1968 New Orleans, dubbed as "New Bordeaux" the game will stay true to the times and do it's best to capture a late 1960's New Orleans. There's old muscle cars, old sports cars, river boats, neon signs everywhere, old school diners... It's a detail that will make the game feel real and even more immersive. There's even some racism and segregated places that the main protagonist isn't allowed. And speaking of the protagonist...

2. The Protagonist.

This time around, the protagonist is Lincoln Clay, a man of mixed heritage. Lincoln is a Vietnam war veteran who, after returning home, gets mixed up with the black mob. The mob gets betrayed by the Italian Mafia, leaving Lincoln as the only survivor. He then sets out to avenge them, but to do that, he must fight fire with fire. Lincoln will have to amass his own allies of people from all over, in order to take down the Italian Mafia and take control of New Bordeaux's criminal underground. He'll be starting from rock bottom, but you'll be with him every step of the way, gaining new allies(and enemies) along the way.

3. The Soundtrack

I've never really seen myself as much of an old soul, but I do like old school music. So when I heard what was going to be in the game's soundtrack, the flames of excitement within me blazed even brighter. Some of the songs include Aretha Franklin's "Respect", The Temptations "I Wish It Would Rain", James Brown "I Got You" (I Feel Good, as others know it) and the list goes on and it gets better. I may not jam to many of these on my own accord, but if they were to play on a station as I'm cruising through the bayou in New Bordeaux, you better believe I won't be turning the radio down or off.

Those are my top three reasons to be excited for "Mafia 3". I feel like it's going to be a great game. It looks like the developers really took their time and created a wonderful piece of art that I (If I could find the cash) and many others will greatly enjoy. It may even be one of the greatest games of the year. We won't know until October 7. I've saved the date, and I'm greatly looking forward to it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
