3 Reasons Hawaii Needs To Be Your Next Vacation Destination

We all know that Hawaii is the land of sun, sand, and relaxation, but is it really all it is made out to be? The short answer is "yes". Hawaii is one the "more accessible" dream destinations available to Americans. Airlines regularly fly there, and it is one place people can go to experience a different culture without the worries of a passport. So what's the hype about Hawaii and what is there to actually do? Check out my top three favorite things about Hawaii listed below, and you may find yourself booking your next summer vacation.

1. Culture

Hawaiian culture is a beautiful thing to experience. The land radiates with positivity and the people embody what they call the "aloha spirit"; which is the "coordination of mind and heart within each person and the emoting of good feelings to others." Much of the relaxation tourists are said to experience stem from this philosophy.

Even Hawaii is apart of the United Sates, the people have worked hard to preserve their culture and traditions. One tradition that I would encourage you to experience is the Merrie Monarch Festival. This week long festival occurs every year and symbolizes the passion for Hawaiian traditions that cannot be lost. During this event, you will have access to parades, hula dancing performances, public luaus, storytelling, fireworks, chanting, and more. 2. Destinations

Hawaii is full of breathtaking destinations. Here are a few suggestions.

Akaka Falls

Akaka Falls is located in "Akaka Falls State Park" on the Big Island of Hawaii. This incredible 442' falls can be accessed through a short and beautiful hike where you will find yourself surrounded by a orchids, bamboo groves, and ferns.

Volcano National Park

Don't worry, the volcanos are not always as active as in this photo, but you would certainly be lucky to ever experience a sight like this! Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is located on the Big Island, and contains active volcanos, KÄ«lauea and Mauna Loa. The Crater Rim Drive passes steam vents and overlooks the massive Halema'uma'u Crater.

Pearl Harbor Memorial

This destination is one of the more emotional ones I have ever experienced on any of my trips. This memorial marks the final resting place of the USS Arizona and the brave men who died in the Pearl Harbor attacks. The park also features a museum containing details and artifacts from that fateful day.

Road to Hana

I hope you don't get carsick for this next one! Road to Hana is a popular, but infamously windy road on the island of Maui. If you can survive the trip, you may see some of the most beautiful sites the island has to offer!

3. Activities

The great thing about Hawaii is that there is something for everyone! Examples include sun bathing (don't forget sunscreen), yoga, snorkeling, surfing, shopping, zip lining, horseback riding, and so much more! Check out www.hawaiiactivities.com for more ideas when planning your vacation!

Hawaii has so much to offer, so plan your trip today! Aloha!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
