1. She takes you to the doctor.
When all you feel like doing is crawling in a hole and dying you definitely don't want to drive your self to the doctor and filling out paperwork. My mom would always have the car running with blanket ready and my favorite music. She knew exactly what to write on those stupid patient forms, and exactly what to say to the doctor when they ask you a million questions about your symptoms.
2. She gets your prescription for you.
You may think this one sounds a bit strange but I never realized how much of a hassle it was to deal with doctors and pharmacies until I was sick (with the flu) on my own for the first time. Your mom will get your prescription filled from your pharmacy and make sure there's no problems at all, because if there is they will have to deal with the mom wrath and no one wants that.
3. She always has everything when exactly when you need it.
All I wanted to do was lay in bed. Even the idea of getting up to make something in the microwave sounded like the worst thing ever. My mom always had any kind of food I wanted fixed when wanted it. She would tuck me in and turn on my favorite movie. Moms have everything you need at your beckoning call when you're sick.
4. She keeps up with your medicine.
One of the hardest things is figuring out how to take your medication properly. Do I take it with food? How many times a day do I take it? Do I have to take it at a certain time? I had no clue, so this resulted in calling and texting my mom to figure it out. Moms always know don't ask me how, they just know. My mom would be right there ready to give it to me or remind me to take it, being on my own I didn't realize this was such a big task.
5. She loves you through it all.
She's there to hold you when you're running a fever. She puts your favorite movies on, she even takes off work to take care of you. Having your mom around when you're sick is something you probably take for granted until you're on your own and are either clueless on what to do or just don't feel well enough to do it for yourself.
Everyone go hug your mom!
