It happens once a year. The weather becomes cold and snowflakes fall from the sky. Everyone is in their warm clothes and trying to survive the 20-degree weather. It happens in the months of December and January and it’s called Winter.

Winter season is among us and there’s some many things to look forward to the cold and glorious season.

After the fall comes in and takes all the leaves from the trees and leaves the branches bare, winter comes in and puts ice on the branches. In addition to the ice, snow also becomes a part of the trees as well as the grass.

With the new addition of the snow, people join the winter wonderland. Kids and even adults participate in the annual snowball fights. Individuals likewise make snowmen and snow angels to display on their front and backgrounds.

The one great thing about the winter season is the holidays. People get to celebrate Christmas as well as New Years with family and friends. In addition, other religions also celebrate their holiday traditions during this time as well.

Another holiday tradition is going Christmas shopping. Getting the best holiday deals are always a plus this time of the year. Every store has their special sales and it makes the holidays even better to find cheap and cute holiday clothes.

In addition to Christmas shopping for yourself, the winter season is also a time to buy last minute gifts for friends and loved ones. The most exciting adventure is going shopping to find gifts that make the people around you feel special and appreciated.

My favorite part about the winter season is of course the hot beverages. There is nothing like sipping on a hot and steaming latte or hot chocolate with whipped cream.

Starbucks will forever be my go to for hot beverages and everybody else’s as well. Everyone rushes into Starbucks just to get the famous red cup for the holidays.

In addition to the red cups, people come and get their favorite holiday drinks including the Caramel Brulée Latte, the Eggnog latte, the Gingerbread Latte and many more holiday favorites.

The winter season is also great because it is a good time to absolutely do nothing. Since the weather outside is frightful it is wonderful to just relax in the warm house sitting by the fire place.

In addition, it’s the perfect time to catch up on some shows on Netflix or just snuggle up with a blanket and watch a few movies, especially holiday ones.

However you enjoy the winter season, make sure it is a marvelous one.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
