Being a female who likes other females is pretty great. I’ve been in a relationship with my significant other for five months, and these are 10 of my favorite things about dating a girl, rather than dating a guy.
1. She knows the female anatomy pretty well.
If you have a girlfriend, she knows how your body works. She’ll know what it’s like when you’re on your period and won’t call you hormonal because she knows how you feel and what you need. She knows that you’ll feel like a lard when you eat a little too much, and she will shut down your body negativity real quick.
2. You can eat like you want to.
Girl, you know you want those wings, so get them! Girls know what girls want, and what girls want is to be able to eat like they want, so pile on the cheese fries and maybe a milkshake (definitely the milkshake, ya girl needs her sweets)!
3. Spa night is fun for everyone.
Yes! Finally, you can eat junk, wear a mud pack, bath time and paint toenails with no shame, and your partner will have fun too! None of my old boyfriends would’ve been caught dead wearing a mud pack facial with me, but my girlfriend loves it!
4. She’s your best friend.
You can gossip with her, talk about your feelings, cry with her and complain about your period. She’s your go-to number one partner in crime. She knows you like the back of your hand, and you know her like nobody else.
5. You can share clothes.
Well, if you are both the same size, that is. It’s like having another closet full of clothes for free! Can I get a YAAASSS?!
6. She knows you are over-emotional sometimes.
Every girl is. It’s part of being a lady. So when you are crying for no reason about everything and you’re just stressed to the max, she got you. When you are complaining and being whiny, she can’t be mad because she does it too.
7. She knows what to get you for Christmas and birthdays.
And she knows that you’ll actually like it. She knows which lipstick color complements your complexion and skin tone, she knows what kind of clothes you like and she isn’t embarrassed to plan cute surprises!
9. She knows you take forever to get ready.
And so does she. She won’t nag you or give you attitude when you are running a little bit fashionably late, because she will be, too! She can also help you get ready, critique your smoky eye and help you decide if that dress makes your butt look big.
10. No gender roles.
Personally, this one is one of my favorite things about being in a homosexual relationship! Some days, you can be femme, some days you can be more masculine! You can wear short shorts or long shorts, a dress or a suit, a snapback or a hair bow, It’s great. I recently discovered that I look cute as heck in a bowtie, and everyone still knew that I was a girl.
