Until College I never had the pleasure of the annoying, lovable, and constant burping amazingness of guy friends. To sum it up, I've really come to appreciate having friends other than girls constantly. Although my friends from high school and college that are girls will always be irreplaceable - my guy friends have a special place in my heart. Here are just a few reasons why.

1. They eat a lot, so you feel better about, well, eating a lot.

Especially with all the dining hall food and times we order pizza, it's nice to have a few guy friends who can eat twice as much as you. They'll pat you on the back and say eat more.

2. Despite what most people say, they are not less drama, but they're more forgiving.

At least in my case, they don't hold grudges and hate to drag out any conflict. A simple apology always suffices.

3. They give you pretty great flirting advice.

God knows I need it.

4. They're up for anything.

The number of times it's been midnight and my guy friends have wanted to do something as ridiculous as throw tide pods at the back of a dorm room door. The spontaneity and free spirit of my guy friends is the absolute best.

5. Their dirty jokes.

Need I say more?

6. You can trust they'll be straightforward.

They're blunt, they're unapologetic, and they'll tell you how it is. No passive aggressive BS, they'll tell you you're an idiot if they have too.

7. They can be great handy-mans.

The amount of times last semester I had to ask one of my guy friends to come down with his WD-40 to make my windows slide better or door not squeak is quite humorous.

8. Pockets - that is all.

Girls clothing never has pockets so whenever I need something held I always know one of my guy friends will have a pocket where they can keep my things safely.

9. Although the teasing can get annoying, it can also be pretty great.

Even though you're constantly the center of attention with the tormenting, in a way, it's how they show you they care. It's sweet.

10. They have great music taste.

I don't know if this is just me, but I find that all my guy friends always suggest the best sort of music. Whether it's EDM, rap, pop, or alternative - they're always on top of the newest music.

11. They're protective.

They wouldn't let anyone hurt you and you can guarantee if someone tried, they would step in and help.

12. Although they may not always show it, they're loving in the weirdest way.
