Runners are everywhere. Literally everywhere. You can turn the corner on a street and someone is most likely running down the road. We are easy to spot and find. We are also the best people to date! Now I get it, of course, I am biased and why would you want to believe a biased person? But, hear me out I'd date me in a heart beat.
Here's some pretty easy reason's to date a runner.
1. We know what hard work is.
Distance running requires hard work. A lot of sweat and not giving up when the pain sets in is part of being a runner. We know how to put in hard work into the relationship even when it gets hard because it is no worse than running a race. A runner will be ambitious and willing to put work into the relationship because heck, they are already logging long runs every day why wouldn't they be in it for the long run with you?
2. Time Managment
A cross country runner will make time for you. Our time management skills are phenomenal because we juggle practice, extra workouts, academics and social life all at once. If the relationship is important to us, then we will make it work.
3. NAPS
Napping is one of my favorite hobbies next to running. If you aren't a stay up late every night kind of person and just like to relax a cross country runner is perfect for you. Napping is always a great date to have, especially if you are both exhausted. They will make time for nap time.
4. No need to wear makeup or always be dolled up
When dating a runner, one must understand that wearing make up is not necessary or for a guy to be gussied up all the time. We are sweating and are gross for a few hours a day, do you think eye liner in highlighter is on the top priority list for the day? It is okay to be relaxed and comfortable with no makeup around us or wearing the best polo you have (boys).
5. FOOD
The best reason to date a runner is because of the food in their lives. Two reasons go behind this. A) sometimes this means cheap date because they are in season and are being super healthy and conscious of what they are eating - which means not crazy huge meals. B) this also means they will sometimes eat whatever they want and you will feel no judgment if you join in. After a race, all we want to do is scarf down any food that crosses our path, so join in and feel no judgment here.
I could go on-and-on about why dating a cross country runner is a great idea, but what it really boils down to is that we are eccentric people that will be committed to you and your life. Dating a cross country athlete will add fun, diversity and fitness into your life. So come in, the pavements ripe for a running date.
