What It's Really Like To Live In A Sorority House

There are no pillow fights.

Living in a sorority house comes with lots of stigmas attached to it. People just kind of assume things that happen there (think pillow fights or something along those lines). So, here's what it's really like to in a mansion with about 50 of your closest friends.

1. We're not perky all the time.

Despite what Legally Blonde might have suggested, we're not always happy.

2. Also, we don't always dress up.

Apparently, people assume that we always look put-together just because we're in a sorority. Honestly, anyone who lives in their sorority house would find this comical. We're in Nike shorts and t-shirts about 99.9 percent of the time, and we probably won't change out of them until about five minutes before we have to go somewhere important.

3. It's really not dramatic at all.

People think we're all supposed to be catty towards one another. Really, we all get along. Actually, we're all friends. Living in the house has made us all get really close. We really do love each other.

4. Trust me, we're very close.

We really, really know a lot about each other.....

5. You get to know everyone's class schedule.

You know who's going to be around during lunchtime; you know who has that dreaded late class. You know that it's not worth looking for someone between the hours of 2-4, because that's when they're in class. Oh also.... yes, we go to class.

6. You get to know everyone's weird habits.

When you all live together, you learn everyone's little quirks. You know who is obsessed with particular foods, who hates other particular foods, and who takes abnormally long showers.

7. You know everyone's social lives.

Although we all participated in the same social events together, we spend the entire next day recounting them.

8. We all eat together.

Whether we're eating in the house or not, we're all pretty much always down to eat together. Eating together always turns into an incredibly long ordeal, because do any of us ever stop talking? Probably not.

9. My closet is your closet.

Don't have a necklace that looks great with your new shirt? Somebody does, and they're happy to share. This truly is the biggest blessing of all.

10. Everyone picks out their outfits together.

Everyone's outfit has to be approved by one another. If it doesn't make the cut, we're doing it out of love. We all want each other to look incredible, okay?

11. Honestly, it's not always clean....

Well, everyone kind of expects our rooms to be pristine, cute, and "srat," all of the time. News flash: we can all be pretty messy.

12. We give each other lots of pep talks.

There's always someone around to cheer you up when you're upset over a failed test or a stupid boy. We're all not really sure what we're doing, but at least we're doing it together right?

13. Quite frankly, we don't know what we're gonna do without each other next year.

We'll cherish these memories forever. When else will you ever get to live in a mansion with all of your friends again?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
