What do you do when you are facing discouragement or negativity from the very people who you have always considered friends or maybe even your family? The people who in the past always reassured and made you feel better about yourself; when you were right and when you were wrong. These very people vowed loyalty and professed to always have your back. Well, now for some reason, they don't quite understand your change; your transformation. The things or activities of the world no longer appeal to you. They are concerned and questioning or doubting your sanity. Take comfort in knowing this: your choice is the right decision. Scripture explains, "For many are called, but few are chosen." Matt 22:14 ESV. And you are moving forward. Your only concern is explaining or sharing salvation with as many people as you can reach.

In your excitement, you begin constantly sharing the gospel with everyone in your circle. Sometimes forcing them to listen. Every word you speak is filled with eager explanations of biblical stories details and new knowledge. You are certain that the same people who upheld you in wrongdoing would surely embrace and support your zeal and pursuit to live right and learn all about Christ! Surprise! Reality is, only a few understand. Most will not. They continue to see you as your mistakes. But do not lose patience or become disheartened. You are not your past! You are not your mistakes. Your past does not define you. God called you, set you apart to complete great work. Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans: "And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. Romans 8:30 ESV. So, you see, you are qualified and do not have to be ashamed of your past.

The purpose of this writing is simply to encourage you. God, who is Alpha and Omega, loves you and has already ordered your steps. Remember, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10 ESV. It is my opinion that my mistakes can be viewed as experience, just as my background is listed on a resume. And that experience allows me to speak to my deliverance. Therefore, I do not need to hide from my past. I use my past to teach a better way. This way radiates with attributes overflowing with an abundance of love, peace, joy, hope and forgiveness all found through Jesus Christ.

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9 ESV. Never forget, this fight is bigger than any one individual. It is not about us. The reward is yet to come. Stay focused and remember our purpose: spreading the good news.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
