Funny people don't always have funny lives

If you’re funny as hell like me and the rest of my Odyssey writing friends, then maybe you will find some humor in this article. Like I said, I am funny as all get out. At least, I hope I am because I brag about it all the time to people.

I let everyone I meet know I am hilarious. Over the past few years, my best and closest friends have convinced be that I AM indeed funny. If you’re like me, you have moments of being naturally funny and then you have moments where you try to be funny. Sadly, the latter seems to be the one that happens most often to me. When I am part of a huge group of people I feel most comfortable. I never “try” to be funny. I just like to enjoy the situation and I will add comments here and there that people think I am funny for. I am just saying what I feel is appropriate to the conversation.

The other not so “good” side is when I try to be funny. This tends to happen when I am with a group of new people. I will say dumb stuff that I find funny just to get a reaction because I like impressing people and I want them to like me. Deep down, is that not what we all want. When I try to be funny it ends with my guests being confused and looking at me like I am crazy. I am usually able to save myself by explaining the joke but it is not always a perfect world. Since my friends think I am funny, I often feel obligated to make such bad and dumb jokes because I feel like it is expected from me when they could probably care less. So, I guess what I’m getting from all of this is be yourself. Make jokes good and bad and laugh at yourself. My whole life is a joke so I like to take that and live in the moment.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
