Whenever people ask me "Where do you live on campus?" my answer is always confidently "Newman 701." At that very moment, that person who had asked me where I lived on campus gives me an immediate cringe and then follows to ask me, "Is that an eight? How can you live in an eight? That's so many girls in one place."
Well yes, eight girls in one apartment can seem quite overwhelming. In some states, eight girls living together is considered a brothel. But the reality is I couldn't imagine not living with these seven other girls.
After living in an eight for the past few months, I have seen that a few things are always true.
1. You always have a friend to hang out with.
2. It does get noisy, but it's manageable.
3. There is never a dull moment, with something always happening.
4. You learn the fine art of living with other people.
5. You all become your own little family.
6. Sleep sometimes might be a little bit difficult to come by.
7. Getting all eight people in one room at the same time can be a little bit impossible at times.
8. You always have someone around to give you hug when you really need it.
9. There's always someone willing to make biscuits with you in the middle of the night.
10. Even though sometimes you'll drop passive aggressive hints for each other, you still love each other.
11. There is always someone to eat dinner with.
12. There is never a bad moment to dance it out.
13. At the end of the day, you can't wait to go home to see all of your great roommates.
Yes, living in an eight person apartment can feel intimidating at time, but the reality is that I wouldn't want to live with anyone else. There is nothing that can prepare you to live with seven other people, but you'd never regret having a leap of faith and living with your seven other close friends.
