5 Realistic Stages Of A Face Mask Routine

The operative word here is realistic.

5 Realistic Stages Of A Face Mask Routine

Recently, my social media newsfeeds have been filled with posts of girls trying out different at-home face masks and I get so jealous because I want to do them too! I thought maybe, just maybe, I could repeat what these experts of face masks do. After all, they all say they're using at-home recipes.

Result? It's not at all like those social media posts.

The following are the five stages of anyone trying to do an at-home routine when it comes to face masks.

1. You make your mixture and realize it looks nothing like the pictures online.

The pictures online all show a beautiful paste or liquid, perfectly spread out on a perfect girl's face. Reality? You are scared to even apply whatever it is you just made because it just looks like a piece of gunk.

2. You apply it to your face and...well.. you don't look pretty at all.

You tell yourself maybe the mask will make you pretty after you take it off, but right now, with your hair tied back like that and your eyes poking out like a dead fish, you honestly have never looked so bad. You laugh it off, but you make sure to avoid the mirror until the time is up.

3. Washing the mask off suddenly is a task the Devil himself designed

There you are, your elbows grinding and your hands straight at work. The mixture is just messing up your sink and it's taking forever to wipe off. You don't even remember reaching that far from your chin, but apparently, you took that stretch.

4. You realize nothing really changed, but washing anything off your face feels so refreshing

So, yeah, you lie to yourself. You walk around feeling like a new woman when in reality, nothing too groundbreaking just happened. You just have a messy sink, sticky hair and an hour you'll never get back. But it's all worth it, right? Right...

5. You're at the store, buying a store face mask.

Maybe this stuff will work!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
