TV Guide

It's no secret that Showtime's "Shameless" has taken over the television industry. It's easily one of the most messed up shows but that's probably why it's so addicting. The name of the show truly does speak for itself. The series follows the chronicles of a South Side family just trying to get by with a long list of unfortunate events that occur along the way.

With all the highs and lows, screw-ups, hook-ups and financial struggle it low-key relates to your average college student— but hopefully not to the full "Shameless" extent:

1. Having less than $5 in your bank account which calls for desperate measures.

2. When you're low on money and need a "loan" from mom or dad.

3. Being told to get your act together.

4. Questioning whether torturing yourself for this degree is worth it.

5. That moment you really contemplate dropping out.

6. But then you remember where that one piece of paper will get you in life.

7. You question yourself for various reasons.

8. Anxiety, insomnia and mental breakdowns are a regular thing.

9. Realizing you need a 103% on your next exam to keep your B- somehow.

10. Not comprehending one thing from that hour and a half lecture.

11. Being lectured on ethics but your professor doesn't practice what they preach.

12. When your friend does the deed and you want the details.

13. You would nap anywhere if given the opportunity.

14. When booze becomes your shameful best friend.

15. It might be gross but you know cheap alcohol will ultimately get the job done.

16. Not remembering to submit something online.

17. Late night munchies might haunt you later on but it's just so freaking worth it.

18. When the GroupMe blows up while you're trying to nap.

19. Or when your GroupMe reminds you of all the poor decisions you made the night before.

20. But going through your camera roll or snapchat story only to high-key have no regrets.

21. When your parents ask you how you been.

22. Or when your parents ask about your grades.....

23. When you find a quizlet for a class that seems everything but possible to pass.

24. When your professor takes forever to email you back.

25. Did I mention your alcoholism?

26. When things get rough your friends have the perfect solution to cheer you up.

27. Getting caught up in your feels in today's society.

28. When people just really push your buttons and you want to avoid them at all costs.

Whether you want to admit it or not, everyone has had their fair share of moments— both shameful and shameless. It happens. It's OK. These people get it and aren't judging you. I mean hey, you're clearly doing something OK in life since you're not Frank Gallagher, right?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
