1. The shock of it all
Even in the smallest relationships, the ones that we felt like didn't matter, we still feel the sadness of losing someone who had importance in our lives for a period of time. During this time, you may feel sad and happy at the same time, you may feel angry a second after that and then go back to telling yourself that you're fine because you are not convinced it actually happened.
2. Let it alllllll out
This stage will consist of laying in bed for days and possibly forgetting to shower (That's okay though). Laying in bed all day and watching your favorite show is the best way to keep from curling up in a ball and becoming dehydrated from the amount of tears that you shed. During this time, please have water on hand in case of dehydration, but good news, the next stage is a 'comin!
3. Deciding that you should download Tinder or maybe try to flirt with someone else
For me, I had been with this special someone since my sophomore year of high school, so getting out there was new to me. I hadn't experienced anything since then and I hadn't "shopped around" to understand what was out there for me to explore. This is the breaking point. You can get out there! You can do it! Take your hot self and go see what you can find. Now, you can let that guy buy you a drink at the bar without feeling bad. Although, don't forget to watch that drink if it is coming from somewhere other than the bartender's hand.
4. Going out there and taking what you want
You see someone hot? Someone has just found out that you're single and is trying to make the move? Go for it! Nothing is holding you back from getting anything you want. Rebounds may not be the best way to go; but, it works for some people, and it could work for you!
5. The world is your oyster
After realizing what is out there and what you are capable of, you now understand what I've been getting at. The world is your oyster; so, go get what you want. The person who was holding you back before is now irrelevant. Stop sharing your location or seeing where he/she is; it doesn't matter. You are now a new person, independent at that and you can be whoever you want. Relationships at this point are unnecessary and not needed; because, you need to know what's out there. After all, college is meant for single people.
