Now that the yuletide season has dissolved into all but a warm comfort in the crevices of your memory, you have probably discovered that your hands for once are lax and that you are no longer hurrying to do something or go somewhere. For an avid reader, this is all but a blessing for you because you either have, A) a pile of books yearning for your voracious eyes, or B) a hunger to finally dive in and read new novels. In either case, a reader is a reader, and here are some book recommendations to help sate your bookish cravings.

1. All the Things We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

A story occurring during World War II, this novel is about a blind French girl and a German boy whose paths intersect during the Nazis' occupation of Paris.

2. Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys

Lithuanian Lina Vilkas is fifteen and her life is turned upside down when Soviet officers come storming into her town and force her and her family to work for them in the cold hazardous fields of Siberia. During her struggles, she discovers art as her form of solace.

3. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

This novel begins in a city contaminated with corruption and deceit. In a sector known as the Barrel, six misfits rise to give a try at what could be one of the greatest heists known to man.

4. The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma

This book revolves around two teenage girls - one of whom is locked up in a juvenile detention center. Tying their two stories together is Orianna and one fateful, mysterious night.

5. Replica by Lauren Oliver

A unique book that tells two different stories of two different girls: Lyra and Gemma. Lyra, who was a subject used for experiments, breaks out of what was known as Haven Institute. Gemma, on the other hand, is simply just a sickly child with a habit of frequenting and abhorring hospitals. Upon being almost kidnapped, their paths soon become parallel with one another's as they both try to uncover the mystery shrouding their lives.

6. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Beautiful and elaborate descriptions aid to create this enchanting tale about two magicians who are pitted against each other due to a lifelong feud between their mentors. However, the only problem is that the contestants don't know each other, the rules, and how victory is determined.

7. Sisi: Empress on Her Own by Allison Pataki

A sequel to the novel, Sisi: The Accidental Princess, this story explores the famous and well-loved life of Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary as she attempts to settle down with her new husband and, by extension, responsibilities.

8. Mosquitoland by David Arnold

Mim Malone leaves home after the sudden collapse of her family and hops on a northbound Greyhound bus to get to her real mother. During this escapade, she meets quirky riders and confronts the demons she had been running from.

9. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Narcissistic assassin, Celaena Sardothein is in prison. Escape slowly becomes an untouchable goal for her until Crown Prince Dorian offers her freedom in return for her representation as his warrior in a competition meant to weed out a new royal assassin.

10. Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri

A collection of short stories encompassing the trials of immigrant individuals and families; the voyage to a new a land turns out to be more cumbersome and disheartening than what the famously acclaimed "Land of the Free" led to believe.
