I know, I know. You “don’t have time to read.” I get it – I’m a junior in college, too, and completely understand that our busy schedules hardly leave a spare second in the day…
Okay, so you don’t have time to read a book. But you do have time to watch every episode of Breaking Bad, complete every BuzzFeed quiz known to man, and have 45 minute SnapChat stories?
What if you decided to pick up a book instead of clicking “Next Episode”? Here are 10 reasons why you should read more.
1. You can expand your vocabulary (and I’m not talking the new “vocab” from Fifty Shades…)
Reading more = more exposure to words = a smarter you.
2. It helps you fall asleep. Sometimes.

3. You can escape when your own life has got you feeling down.
Books are cheaper than therapy, and they’re actually enjoyable. Seriously, it’s hard to feel upset about your own life when you’re reading anything by Nicholas Sparks.
4. You can finally hop on the real Harry Potter band wagon and stop being one of those “fans” that have only seen the movies.
Read a book and you will see that the book is always better. ALWAYS.
5. A library card is free. Netflix is not.
Sure, hardcover books can cost up to $20. But a visit to your local library costs you practically nothing – and you’ll be surprised at the options available to you.
6. Reading is attractive.
Everyone looks good with a book in his or her hand, not just Mark Ruffalo. Although he’s always pretty hot.
7. Some of your favorite TV characters are self-proclaimed bookworms.
Rory Gilmore, Dan Humphrey, Lisa Simpson, Lucas Scott. How could you not want to be a part of their elite club?
8. Reading is fun.
I may be biased because I'm a book worm, but there truly is nothing like getting involved in a page turner.
If you've read Gone Girl, you know what I mean. If you haven't, well then, shut your laptop and GET READING!
