Read This When You're at Your Worst

Sometimes we just need some words of encouragement

Read This When You're at Your Worst
Stocksnap

Read this when your world is falling apart around you.

Read this when you feel that tightness in your chest, and the uneasiness in the pit of your stomach.

Read this when you’ve lost your faith and you don’t know if anything’s going to be OK.

Read this when it seems like the broken parts of your life can never be put back together.

But while reading this, take a deep breath. Feel that aching in your heart and defeat on your shoulders. Remind yourself that this too shall pass — rarely do our storms last forever. Understand that even though it seems hopeless, it rarely is. Sometimes our worst moments pave the way for some of the best moments to come.

These terrible times are full of breakdowns to make way for the breakthrough. These times test our faith, shape our outlook, and remind us that we’re stronger than we think. These times are a melting pot of frustration with sprinkles of enlightenment. They remind us that we are built to persevere.

The reality is that healing and hurting don’t have a timeline. It’s a constant battle back and forth in your mind that isn’t shown to the world outside. And sometimes it feels like you're drowning in your battles — and this is to remind you that you’re not.

You’ve weathered this storm before and made it out on the other side. Remember that the worst moment in your life now, won’t be the same in the future — this is true for the best moments in your life as well. There's so much more to come. What you define as the worst is forever changing, and you may look back at this and laugh. Find a sense of comfort in the fact that there is still another hell to go through in the future.

Remind yourself of all the good there is in your life — and in the world around you. The kind words of strangers, the laugh of someone you love, and the possibility of re-creation in the ever-changing world.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
