So, last Saturday my family and I all went to the movie theater to see the newest movie in the Marvel cinematic universe, "Black Panther". I knew that the movie was breaking so many records in the superhero movie genre and that the black community was extremely hyped to see it in theaters. After viewing the movie and seeing all the records that this movie is breaking here are all of my reactions to this movie.

1. It broke the record for the biggest opening weekend ever for any movie not directed by a white guy!

Hey, Steven Spielberg and James Cameron, we're coming for you. Be scared.

2. There was actually a memorable villain

I'm sorry but in the most recent superhero movies, the villain wasn't that memorable. You kind of forget them by the end of the movie. Killmonger was fully explored and developed within this movie. We didn't see him just be an evil guy. We saw him be vulnerable and that is amazing.

3. There is finally a black superhero movie

As someone that is a black person, it's just nice to see a full-length movie where the minority superhero isn't overshadowed by a white superhero. And, in "Black Panther", there aren't any white superheroes! This is a full feature-length movie all about a black superhero and this is what the black community has been waiting for. Overall, I am grateful that Marvel has had black superheroes in their past movies, too but this is essentially the icing on the cake.

4. It showed some #BlackGirlMagic

There is so so so much #BlackGirlMagic that I feel so empowered. This movie shows that black women are strong and powerful, physically and mentally. They're not the Hollywood "I'm-a-strong-black-woman-and-I-don't-need-no-man" stereotype. The head general of Wakanda wasn't a man, it was a woman! The most powerful elite warriors of Wakanda weren't strong men but they are strong women! It was so refreshing to see on the big screen.

5. Princess Shuri!

She is arguably the next Princess Leia. She is Wakanda's head inventor and she improved the Black Panther suit and is arguably smarter than Bruce Banner and Tony Stark. She creates everything that can not only help her country but in the coming movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is rumored that she will be making improvements to the Avengers gear, too.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
