The Pacific Northwest lifestyle isn't for everyone, but if you're born into it you understand that it's the best way to be livin'!

1. You feel at home when you're close to the water

After a long day, being able to look at a beautiful view of the water can help calm anyone down. Growing up in the PNW you were most likely near the water because in the northwest there are so many lakes, streams, ponds, rivers, and channels. You feel trapped when you're landlocked because you don't have that constant view of the water.

2. Rain doesn't phase you

You rarely carry an umbrella, because you know that you can tough it out and get a little wet! If anything, you enjoy the rain. It reminds you of home and the sound of it helps you sleep at night.

3. You own more Patagonia jackets than you'd like to admit

You don't feel bad buying more, because they're just so sensible! How else are you going to fit in with the PNW style?

4. You wear sandals all year round

Whether they're Tevas, Chacos, Birkenstocks, Keens, or Sanuks, you've got 'em and you wear them no matter what the forecast says.

5. You've been forced to partake in water sports

Coming from the PNW, you've most likely been dragged along a family outing to go kayaking, canoeing, rafting, paddle boarding, tubing, and/or sailing at least once in your life. Though the childhood memories may be a little traumatic from these outings, you are always able to look back and remember a fun day out on the water.

6. Yes, you're a coffee snob

And no, you haven't been to the original Starbucks. The line is wayyy too long.

7. Your backyard was a mosquito war zone

Everyone wants to take advantage of a warm summer night, but being in the PNW makes it out to be not very easy. If you went outside past sunset, you had to be prepared, or else you'd come home as an itchy mess with welts all over you. Someone grab the citronella candles and anti-itch cream!

8. You always had national parks within reach

With places like Olympic National Park, Crater Lake National Park, and Mount Rainier National Park so close, you never got tired of exploring your beautiful Pacific Northwest backyard!

9. You've ridden a ferry boat

Ferries are a bona fide mode of transportation in the Pacific Northwest, especially in northern Washington and lower B.C., and they make for great photo ops! Odds are, you've been on one of these ~wild~ rides.

10. You own a Subaru or know at least 20 other people that do

Subaru: the official automobile of the Pacific Northwest.

11. You're used to seeing a green landscape 365 days a year

The PNW has these wonderful trees called coniferous evergreen trees, and they never shed their leaves, making for beautiful year-round green scenery.

12. You always look forward to going home

You may be a relocated PNWer, but the Pacific Northwest will always have a special place in your heart. Getting to visit your old home means getting to visit the beautiful place you grew up, and you're proud to say you're from the PNW.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
