Immense clouds fill the atmosphere with a lovely, eerie darkness Suddenly came a burst of light through the shadow A booming clap of thunder shakes the earth beneath my feet It's mesmerizing as I look up to the sky in all of its momentary silence “The sky is falling!” I giggle to myself as a single drop of precipitation hits my forehead rolls down and off the tip of my button nose And then it begins Slowly the pressure builds and the rain pours Filling the ruts and holes in the yard and in my soul Before I know it my bare feet leap out in front of me and into the biggest puddle My toes sink into the earth and I soak in the magnificent mud Tiny streams spill from saturated strands of hair I am home. I’ve never minded the rain drizzling onto the ground and into my mind Cleansing my being and bringing me joy Even after all these years peace can be brought to a weathered consciousness because I’ve never minded the rain.
