Isn’t it crazy how you can know the insides and outsides of a person..the deep sh*t, you know? You think you know them… you know what they listen to when they shower, you know how they hold their fork, and how long it takes them to get annoyed by something. You think that you know what kind of person they are.. and you never thought they would do something as awful as breaking your heart. How does this happen? Do people change? Do hearts change? Do feelings change? What the hell changes? One day you're smiling so hard you can’t breathe because of them and the next day you’re sitting in a dark room alone.. barely breathing.. because you just heard that they don’t want to be with you anymore.
How do these things happen? How does someone who once said you were “the one” all of the sudden decide you’re the “-1.” Maybe it’s because we expect so much out of a person, and we drive ourselves crazy trying to achieve that.. but it brings us to the point—do we invest ourselves into something just to see what the outcome is? Is it a test? Or do we actually just want to enjoy the relationship? What if relationships are just mini-tests for ourselves to see how much we can make the other person fall for us? What if we never actually love people? …Maybe we just love the version of ourselves when we’re with them. And when we’re not with them, that person (ourself) changes.
Different people can make us feel a million different ways. Some people make you feel like you’re a comedic genius who deserves 10 Oscars and makes you want to drink wine and wear couture. And some people make you feel like you’re an unshaved armpit... Some people we click with, some people we don’t. Some people can be your soul mates for a short day, some can be your soul mates for years, and some can be your soul mates forever. I, myself, believe we don’t have just one “soul mate.” We have many. We have soul mates in different aspects. So what does this mean for finding your “one true love?" The truth is, I don’t know, and maybe we never will. I think the reason love is so hard to achieve is because it is kind of like a magic.
You know that feeling you get, that tummy tickling feeling, when you finally feel like you’re in love?? Well, I think that it’s magic. Love is the closest feeling we can get to magic. It takes you to another world of happiness, like nothing else in the world matters. But what if relationships didn’t exist??.. What if everyone was just on their own? No rejection, no fighting, No dinner dates, and no love. Would it make the world a better place? Would restaurant’s incomes go down, or up? Would we be happier? Does actual love make us happy, or does the fact that someone loves us truly make us happy? What if we loved ourselves enough to suffice for the fact that anyone else needed to love us? Will we ever find out? Probably not.
There are so many unanswered questions in life, and I guess we all just have to deal with them until we are content with what we believe in. Life doesn’t give you clear cut answers…. ever. Unless it’s math, but who does math? That’s what calculators are for. Just because these questions are unanswered doesn’t mean that we should stop trying to solve them. Life is a long, stressful, unpredictable, crazy, amazing, and beautiful thing. We learn new things everyday. But my point is, never stop asking yourselves questions, never stop trying to learn more. Think about every aspect of things going on in your life. Think about all the outcomes. Life doesn’t just give out free hall passes—that’s why we need to be on the lookout for teachers in the hall that will send us to detention at all times. And by teachers I mean obstacles in life, like bills, bullies, rejection, stress, depression… As the great Forrest Gump himself said.. “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.”
