As I grow older, meet new people and travel new places, I discover how a lot of people don't seem to care about anyone but themselves. Don't get me wrong, it's great that people are focusing on their own life, but sometimes I wish people would at least pretend to be interested in mine. I am so fascinated by human behavior and asking questions about anything and everything that has affected my life tremendously. I want to tell you how asking questions can benefit you.

1. Help you understand:

Each person has their own way of thinking. It’s important for your friends to feel loved by you and the only way to know how to love them is to understand their language. How else are you supposed to figure that out besides asking them?

2. It teaches you creativity:

In awkward silences, you will have to think of something besides asking where their from for the sixth time because "you forgot" and that will call for some active thinking.

3. It makes others think.

Again, in awkward silences you will start to feel comfortable asking the most absurd questions and all of these will make others think about things they have never thought of before...like what they would do if they had to escape an axe murderer?

4. It will make you think as well.

You will even start to think and ask questions that you've never thought about.

5. It will help you grow as a person.

Learning about other people's life choices can give you different perspectives on things and even open your mind to something new.

6. You will learn something new.

Each person has their own experiences and own strengths and you can learn from that.

7. You could discover the unknown.

Similar to the previous statement, taking the knowledge and experiences of others to heart will broaden your mind, connect the dots and understand a person or thing in a new light that has never made sense to you before.

8. It makes it easier to keep the conversation going.

Continuing to be interested in the subject will make the person feel comfortable, allowing them the freedom to continue sharing. This is perfect for when you don’t really feel like being the one to talk.

9. It gives you a reason to talk about yourself.

Asking people questions will usually result with them asking you the same question back, whether it's out of curiosity or awkwardness. If you really want to tell someone about how your dog performed on "Ellen," you could start by asking them if they have any pets.

10. You might find your best friend.

Getting to know someone’s lifestyle will help you determine if you want to develop a stronger relationship. Find out what you have in common and what differences are special and unique. Who knows, you might be spending every day together from there on out.

11. Your friends will feel loved.

Nothing's better than when someone actually tries to understand why I love the things I do. Someone might actually love something as gross as Brussels sprouts. The only way to understand is if you ask and try to see it through their eyes (or mouths).

Every day I hear people turn one way and say they love everyone and then turn the other way and judge somebody else. If your goal in life is to learn to love everyone, the only way to do that is to get to know their differences and value them.

Asking questions will really help you be more accepting of all members of society. You will learn a lot about yourself and others. Hopefully others will learn a lot about you. It will even make listening to your heart a whole lot easier since you will know more about yourself and your peers language. Please, I challenge you to meet new people, ask questions, keep the conversation going. Find something good and inspiring in everyone.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
