7 Questions I Can't Stop Asking My Mom
Everyday-families.com

At this point in my life, I am legally an adult, but that doesn't mean I know how to be a full on adult yet. I know there's many of you out there who are in the same boat as I am whether you're ready to admit it or not. There's nothing wrong with needing a little help from your mom every now and then. We've upgraded from "Can you wipe my butt?" to more in depth real world questions so, hey, that's a plus in my book.

1. Can you make a _______ appointment for me?

This blank can be filled in with a wide range of options from doctors, dentist, or even hair. It's just a stressful concept for me I don't know how to call a doctor's office. Do I still go to a pediatrician or do I go somewhere else? Do I even need to make an appointment or do I just show up? There's so many questions so it's better left in my mom's hands.

2. What is this and will I like it?

Whenever I go to a restaurant with my family nine out of 10 times I am asking my mom what certain items on the menu are. The woman raised me she knows my taste buds better than I know them myself. I don't know spices and sauces or different fancy words for food I need her to guide me in the right direction. Although, she does give me the "I don't know Anna I can't make that decision for you," whenever I ask her to help me choose between 2-3 different meals on my mind.

3. How do I _______?

This one is just an obvious given. It could be how do I cook chicken?, how do I put air in my tires?, how do I fill out this form? The list goes on and on. There's real world adult stuff we are never taught in college so I have to turn to my mom when I need help with basic real world things.

4. Can I wash this or how do I wash this?

I don't mind doing my own laundry, I may let it pile up for way too long, but eventually I don't mind doing it. However, it doesn't come without questions. Can I wash this with this? or does it have to be dry cleaned? Once those questions are answered it is usually followed up with can you just do it please? I then proceed to get mad when something shrinks in the wash that I asked her to do.

5. What am I sick with?

If I'm slightly sick you bet I am sending my mom a detailed text with my symptoms or a concerned phone call. Sometimes she'll even get pictures of my spider bites or my swollen tonsils asking what I should do about it. Even though most of the time I never follow her instructions (hence question number 1, I can't make a doctor's appointment) I still complain about it to her until I'm better.

6. Can you send me ____?

Being at school and away from home there are times when I will need something random that I, of course, didn't bring with me or something that I left at home when I was in a rush. Whether it's my hair dryer, shower towels, a pair of shoes, or a neon jacket for a date party coming up I am calling her right away to ship it to me. This gets a bit stressful when I call her the day before I desperately need that item and there's no possible way of getting it on time.

7. Can you make me food?

As long as I live I don't think I can ever get myself to stop asking this question. Even when her food is bad, it's good. You always need some home cooked meals I don't care who you are.

Don't let this fool you I am extremely capable of doing many things it's just easier sometimes having my mom around to call. I'm sure she is reading this right now so don't let it get to your head. Remember mom you still ask me to help you with emails, Facebook, Instagram and basic iPhone problems ...

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
