Most college students forget about their childhood experiences and the times they spent creating puzzles or even letting the dog loose in the front yard. However, we forget about the art of creating puzzles as a child. As six- and ten-year-olds, we used to play games and learn more about ourselves from our surroundings. Those days were just the beginning in which we all gained various skills to help us survive today.
We gained good memory skills from those entertaining and mommy approved jigsaw puzzles.
Various jigsaw puzzles helped to enhance our memory as a child. According to the way children worked with the pieces, they usually had to remember the size, color, and shape to find a way to reconnect them into an entire "pictorama." Hence, if a puzzle didn't quite fit, children moved it to the side, trying to find another piece that can fit the shape needed to complete the puzzle. Our mamas never taught us to memorize our day to day necessities we use.
It's quite fascinating how puzzles played an important part in most of our lives, anyways. Today, we have all the sharp cognitive skills to memorize twenty to a hundred facts before a test. Thanks to the art of using jigsaw puzzles, life seems a lot easier today, right?
Writing isn't an art, our days as a famous "puzzle maker" taught us to finesse.
If you think you have fine motor skills, it's most likely true. Truth be told, only about a half of us realize that our days as "little puzzle makers" shaped us into the rockstars we are today as college students. To be honest, puzzles provided us the opportunity as children to move along small puzzle bits and coordinate them into an entire piece with swift hand movement and eye coordination. We developed some awesome skills right there. As a matter of fact, we gained the skills that are necessary for writing and multi-tasking.
If you had to go back in time and reflect upon how awesome jigsaw puzzles are, would you lose the opportunity? Let's take some time to thank how blessed we were as children to take advantage of these fantastic pastimes. So, take this as a chance to be proud of our past– and even better, the nostalgic moments of our childhood.
