Why You Should Put Down Your Phones At Concerts
Christina Kosch

So you’re at a concert. You see waves of bright phone screens bobbing up and down and flashes of camera lights everywhere along with the smell of sweat and happiness from the people surrounding you. I can guarantee this is what you will experience or have experienced at every concert you have been to within last few years. We are in the 21st century and we take pictures of everything, which is great in some aspects, don't get me wrong. Through pictures, we can remember exactly what happened that day and unlock endless memories we thought we forgot about. Now in other aspects, we push this to an extreme and it can be a very bad thing.

We constantly take snapchat videos of performances at concerts and we take endless pictures which is fine until it becomes disruptive to others. A few pictures are fine here and there, but please for the love of god stop being that person who uses their phone during the entire concert. I get it, you need to shoot mom or g-ma a text that says, "hey I'm having fun and still just fine;" excellent, that's okay because they worry. I'm talking about the people who have their phones out the entire time. You're spending how much money on a ticket just to be on your phone the whole time? You realize you can do that from your couch right? And odds are since you're spending so much money on a ticket you probably won't be seeing this specific artist ever again. SO GO ENJOY THEIR PERFORMANCE. Shut down snapchat. Grab a few pics of the venue, grab a couple of pictures with your friends, but PLEASE put down your phone! And why would you even bother recording their live performance anyway? You can very well go on youtube and search the live versions of specific songs. Half of the time their performances are recorded by a bigger company anyway (that didn't spend a thousand dollars to see JBiebs). You will not get the same experience watching the video as you will being there and breathing in the stench of the blood, sweat, and tears of your fellow fans.

This leads to another thing that I love; artists who are completely banning cell phone use during their performances. Many artists are giving their fans a pre-show speech that includes "putting your phone away and staying in the moment." I love this. Why WOULDN'T you want to be with them in this time? You are within hearing distance of your favorite artist. Why would you be on Facebook, Twitter, or Insta? In this day in age, social media isn't going anywhere but we are. People have amazing experiences every single day and half of the time they spent their time on their device so put your phone down and enjoy the show.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
